Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) will be holding “Family Math Night” for students and parents from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 13, at its Fort Myers campus.
The event, intended to be an effort to demonstrate how mathematics isn’t a tool used only for school, is for students in kindergarten to eighth grade and will feature math games created by teacher candidates in the FSW’s School of Education, a release on the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce website said.
Dr. Mary Robertson, professor of mathematics education at FSW, is excited about the upcoming event. Dr. Meyers has been a mathematics teacher for the past 32 years and has taught at all grade levels.
“Learning mathematics successfully requires a joint effort between home and school,” Dr. Mary Robertson, professor of mathematics education at FSW, said in the release. “We are happy to help build a bridge connecting the two as well as showing young students and their families that math can be fun.”
The event will be held in Building U, Room 102, at the FSW Thomas Edison Campus, 8099 Collge Parkway.
All are welcome to attend, but students are encouraged to register by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
