The Monique Burr Foundation for Children (MBF) will host its annual “A Night at Roy’s” event, featuring gourmet cuisine, fabulous wines, tropical cocktails, live music, and a live and silent auction. One of Northeast Florida’s most widely attended charity events, last year’s event was an enormous success with more than 400 attendees and $55,000 raised to help keep children and teens safe through the MBF Child Safety Matters™ Prevention Education Series.

Miami-Dade superintendent Alberto Carvalho recently criticized Florida legislature for its recent education budget which will give Miami-Dade per-student funding well below the state average. Miami-Dade is the fourth largest school district in the nation, yet it will be receiving a per-student increase of $65.06 -- just above Broward and Gadsden.
