In alignment with the burgeoning conscious capitalism movement allowing consumers to abide by corporate social responsibility, thrifty shoppers will now have the option to utilize automated online discounts with new startup CouponMate.
CouponMate functions as a browser extension, and currently supports Chrome, Firefox and Safari. The new app automatically seeks out and applies the best coupon codes for purchases made online for more than 100,000 retailers.
MarketKarma, an eight-person development team in Miami, Florida is the force behind the function. Specializing in digital marketing technology for online retailers, the team aims to change the coupon redemption process at its core.
"As an agency, it's second nature for us to focus on user experience," Michel Bio, creative director for MarketKarma, said. "The coupon redemption experience is one of the worst. Everybody loves discounts, but searching the Web to find a coupon code, then switching back and forth between windows to test whether a code works? For me, for most people, it's way too much trouble. We wanted to reinvent the process."
MarketKarma’s invention seeks to eradicate the hassle associated with extensive surfing to find the best deals. Although the team started the project simply to utilize their retail, technology and digital marketing skills, they find that it has evolved to become an excellent example of “conscious consumerism," embracing the practice of helping people while simultaneously utilizing the vast potential of crowdsourcing.
It’s a discount system whose time has come.
