Florida East Coast Railway (FECR) recently implemented a new amendment to its collective bargaining agreements (CBA) with its Train and Engine/Yardmaster employees, represented by the Sheet Metal Air Rail Transportation (SMART) organization.
"FECR is excited that these amended CBAs provide the foundation for our Train and Engine/Yardmaster employees over the next several years," James R. Hertwig, president and CEO of FECR, said.
The agreements were amended on June 18; and compensation, as outlined in the agreements, was received July 30.
"SMART members have overwhelming ratified the new amendments to the CBA's and look forward to working with FECR in the future," John Whitaker, general chairman of GO-851 SMART-TD, said.
The FECR is a 351-mile freight rail system along Florida’s east coast. It is the exclusive rail provider for PortMiami, Port Everglades and Port of Palm Beach.
Based in Jacksonville, Florida with connections to CSX and Norfolk Southern, FECR offers a solution to moving intermodal loads and carload commodities, from pulp and paper to aggregate and automobiles. FECR connects to the national railway system to move cargo originating or terminating in Jacksonville, providing end-to-end solutions to customers who demand cost-effective service and premium quality.
