Topgolf has selected Jacksonville as its second Florida site, the innovative sports entertainment provider announced yesterday, following an enormously successful first venue in Tampa and drawing on the city’s increasing economic appeal to expanding businesses.

"Jacksonville offers everything Topgolf looks for in a location — proximity to local corporations and a major shopping destination…fantastic demographics, a fast-growing population, a golfing community and a city that promotes outdoor recreation," Topgolf’s Vice President for Real Estate Zach Shor said. "Our Tampa location has already broken company records for attendance, and we see a lot of potential for our concept to grow in the state of Florida. Topgolf Jacksonville is the perfect destination to continue that expansion."

Topgolf players hit balls containing computer microchips, tracking each shot's accuracy and distance and awarding points for reaching outfield targets. Each facility offers an upscale and playful experience, featuring thoughtful amenities for an enhanced, fully modernized recreational experience.

"Topgolf choosing Jacksonville for just its second location in Florida is another example of a national company recognizing the growth and strength of Northeast Florida's economy," Jerry Mallot, president of the JAXUSA Partnership, said.

The three-level venue will offer up to 3,000 square feet of private event space and 102 climate-controlled hitting bays capable of hosting up to six players at once. Shor estimates that Topgolf Jacksonville will serve 450,000 visitors in its first year.

Topgolf's economic impact in its local communities has been substantial, with each location creating 450 full- and part-time jobs and serving as an anchor tenant to attract other franchises to the area.

"Businesses like Topgolf choosing to locate here proves Jacksonville is the best place to start and grow a business," Mayor Lenny Curry said. “Announcements like this show Jacksonville is open for business."

With 22 locations serving a projected 8 million guests annually, Topgolf is headquartered in Dallas.
