IPC Healthcare acquires Tampa psychiatry practice

IPC Healthcare, Inc., a leading national acute hospitalist and post-acute provider organization, announced Wednesday that it has acquired the Tampa, Florida-based practice of Ashit Vijapura, M.D., providing both acute and post-acute setting psychiatry services.

"We are pleased to welcome Dr. Vijapura and his team to the IPC family as both acute and post-acute settings are increasingly seeing a need for quality behavioral health clinical programs. Dr. Vijapura's practice will expand our intellectual capital and capabilities in this important subspecialty area to another IPC market," IPC Healthcare President and COO R. Jeffrey Taylor said.

With corporate offices in North Hollywood, California, and employing over 2,000, IPC Healthcare’s affiliated physicians and other clinical providers practice in approximately 400 hospitals and 2,000 post-acute care facilities nationwide. IPC Healthcare provides its clinicians with comprehensive training, information technology, and management support systems to improve the quality and reduce the cost of patient care in the facilities it serves.

IPC is the nation's leading national physician group practice focused on the delivery of hospital medicine and related facility-based services, caring for over 1 million patients annually while maintaining quality standards in alignment with clients’ missions and objectives.

Vijapura will join IPC as a Practice Group Leader in the Tampa area; the acquisition is expected to add more than 24,500 encounters annually.
