Bringing more than 25 years of experience in public affairs to government and private sector clients, Courtney Cunningham was named CEO of SWAY, a nationally ranked Miami-based public affairs and public relations agency, Monday.
Prior to joining SWAY, Cunningham was founder and president of Cunningham Group Inc., a public involvement and strategic communications firm, which received a Prudential-Davis Productivity Award from the State of Florida. Cunningham is also a British-American Project fellow and a member of the Florida Bar.
"I am very excited to take on the role as CEO of SWAY and leading a very strong team, including President Yvonne Lorie, to deliver positive perception for brands and engage their stakeholders to affect behavioral change," Cunningham told Florida Business Daily.
With numerous distinctions, Cunningham has also served in leadership positions with Floridians for Better Transportation and the University of Florida. A former investment banker, Cunningham was central to establishing the first wholly minority-owned holding company, Commonground/MGS.
Sherman Wright, CEO of Commonground/MGS, said, "Since our merger, SWAY has seen consistent growth and Courtney has been an instrumental part of this success, and I am confident that under his leadership the agency will continue to grow and provide cutting-edge strategic communication counsel to clients. Courtney is a highly experienced leader and his strong integrated communications background fits very well into the overall company's strategy for growth."
