One of Florida’s highest life sciences honors was presented to Matthew H.J. Kim, founder and CEO of Vigilant Biosciences, Tuesday by award namesake Weaver H. Gaines at the BioFlorida Conference in Orlando, Fla.
Vigilant Biosciences aids in the early detection and intervention of cancer through innovative solutions. Named for one of BioFlorida’s founding directors, the Weaver H. Gaines Entrepreneur of the Year Award recognizes a businessperson who has made extraordinary contributions to the growth of Florida's life sciences industry in the leadership of a company or institution.
"We are pleased to present Matthew Kim… with this award for his contributions to the Florida life sciences industry and his ongoing passion and commitment to making a meaningful impact in the lives of those at risk for cancer or living with the disease," Nancy K. Bryan, BioFlorida’s president and CEO, told Florida Business Daily.
BioFlorida represents close to 5,500 biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device and bioagriculture sector industry firms collectively employing nearly 80,000 Floridians.

Fort Lauderdale-based Vigilant Biosciences aids clinicians in early cancer detection through point-of-care and lab products. Its products are currently undergoing mark registration approval.
