Cologix completes Jacksonville infrastructure and dark fiber ring upgrade

Cologix -- a Denver-based, network-neutral interconnection and data center company -- today announced the completed upgrade for its JAX1 facility at 421 W. Church St. in Jacksonville.

The upgrade renders Cologix the region’s most connected data center. As home to carriers riding the new subsea cables landing in Jacksonville, the facility now has room for growth, supported by a brand-new N+1 electrical and cooling infrastructure.

"Cologix is proud to be at the epicenter of the disruption in international traffic in Jacksonville," CEO Grant van Rooyen said. "We are bringing new investment, redundancy and carriers to the market to secure Jacksonville's position as part of the Internet's 'New Edge' and attract content, cloud and financial players from across North America to supplement or rethink their LATAM network strategies."

Having acquired the venue in 2013, Cologix revamped the facility, adding both scope and connectability. Now with nearly doubled capacity, including options for private network cages and suites, the company is currently adding 4 megawatts of power for its continued trajectory of growth.

The improved venue won kudos from Tower Cloud, one of the Southeast’s largest wireless backhaul and high-speed networking providers.

"Tower Cloud continues to make significant investment in building fiber throughout Florida and Cologix's recent upgrades allow us to confidently offer solutions from our Metro Network deployed in their Jacksonville data center," George Townsend, Tower Cloud’s senior vice president for business development, said.

Cologix operates facilities in Jacksonville, Lakeland, and six other North American cities. It recently completed a dark fiber ring connecting its data centers.
