A ribbon cutting ceremony was held today to mark the grand opening of the Gainesville, Florida area’s first public compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel station.
CNG is an alternative to gasoline and diesel fuels. The station is located at 5002 SW 41st Blvd. in Gainesville..
CNG may well represent a global solution in the search for alternatives to gas and petroleum-based energy sources. The new station, the first of its kind both for Gainesville and Alachua County, represents a positive step toward independence for U.S. fuel consumers.
The ceremony was publicized with the support of WCA Waste Corporation, also of Gainesville, which provides roll off dumpster rentals, hauling and other services including commercial and residential recycling.
“CNG is thought to be the fuel of the future,” the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce stated. “An increasing number of countries across the globe are jumping on the bandwagon to make use of compressed natural gas, due to its various benefits.”
