The YMCA of Florida's First Coast, based out of Jacksonville, Florida, recently initiated a partnership with Daxko, an Alabama-based software firm that has pioneered a novel way for travelers to stick with their fitness regimens.
“Daxko Well,” marketed by as “My Y on Demand,” will extend users the complete Y experience — regardless of location or schedule — via its website and mobile app featuring personalized fitness and nutrition plans, group classes, meet-ups, and even social and volunteer opportunities.
Daxko president and CEO David Gray expressed enthusiasm for his firm’s “relevant and scalable solution to help our valued partners like the YMCA of Florida's First Coast to take their mission of healthy living beyond the walls of the facility and deeper into their communities.”
Statistics indicate that motivated participants using the platform have lost up to 20 pounds and 9 percent of their BMI and improved their fitness level over 100 percent within six months.
"We are excited to launch this new virtual solution to enhance our current members' experience and to reach other potential members outside the walls of our Ys,” Eric Mann, First Coast YMCA president and CEO, said. “With this technology, we will be able to help even more members of our community achieve their healthy living goals through virtual challenges, personalized nutrition plans, rich content, and social engagement."
Daxko is based in Birmingham, Alabama and provides “mission critical” software to health and wellness enterprises with a team of 190 across the Southeastern U.S.
