Florida’s BurgerFi to open 40 branches in Mexico

With all-natural, chemical- and additive-free Angus beef patties, hand-cut fries, craft beer and wine, recycled furniture and green appliances, Florida’s BurgerFi is set to expand to Mexico City, the North Palm Beach, Florida-based company announced recently.

Currently operating 78 venues with plans for 100 more in early 2016, BurgerFi has struck a deal with EFIT SA DE CV to implement 40 locations in the metropolitan Mexico City area within the next five years — a move that will create 1,000 new jobs.

"We're extremely pleased to have arrived to the monumental milestone of opening our first international BurgerFi location,” CEO Corey Winograd said. “We are excited to be working with the EFIT SA DE CV team, who has demonstrated the genuine passion, industry, and deep infrastructure experience we looked for in our first partner to expand BurgerFi's presence internationally."

In its quest for the "burgerfication of the nation," the company follows a ''Never Ever" program policy: no steroids, antibiotics, hormones, chemicals or additives are ever used in BurgerFi’s food. The Mexico City venue will be equipped with chairs made of recycled soda bottles, tables of recycled wood and energy-efficient ceiling fans.

EFIT SA DE CV is run by partners Luis Antonio Ortiz Dominguez, Alan Jaber and Abraham Cohen, all with proven expertise in franchise operations.

"We are honored to have been selected by BurgerFi as their first international partner," EFIT founder Dominguez said. "We look forward to bringing the fresh, all natural, hormone-free concept to Mexico and replicating the success of the brand internationally."
