Florida-based Ultimate Software, a cloud solutions provider, announced this week from the company’s Weston headquarters that Alliance Coal is among the many clients utilizing the company’s branded UltiPro platform, taking full advantage of its user-friendly capabilities.
Based in Lexington, Kentucky, Alliance Coal operates a dozen mining complexes in the Illinois Basin and in Appalachia, producing a diverse range of steam coals. As the third-largest coal producer in the eastern U.S., the company faced unique challenges.
“The single-greatest value UltiPro has added to our company is the intuitive, easy-to-use technology that puts the software right in the hands of our workforce,” Layne Herring, general manager of payroll and HRMS at Alliance Coal, said. “We experienced virtually no lag time in getting our employees on UltiPro.”
Ultimate Software’s UltiPro program offers ease of configuration, seamless user experience and real-time data accessibility. Providing choices for self-pacing, the software enables company staffers and management to adopt it relatively quickly.
“[O]ur miners can have up to 18 earnings codes in a single paycheck,” Herring said. “We needed to make enhancements to our technology. UltiPro’s configurability allows us to make immediate adjustments as our business needs change, and has alleviated many worries we used to have.”
Herring added that Alliance employee training has become simplified as well.
“Businesses that are larger and more complex need the power of a comprehensive HCM solution,” Greg Swick, Ultimate Software’s chief sales officer, said “We are pleased that Alliance Coal is improving its HR and payroll operations with UltiPro.”
Founded in 1990, Ultimate Software employs over 2,700 staffers, manages over 20 million records in the cloud, and has received numerous accolades from FORTUNE.
