In a twist on the traditional ribbon-cutting rite for new businesses, Lowe’s of SW Gainesville, Florida announces its upcoming “board-cutting” ceremony Thursday, Jan. 14, at 10 a.m. at 3101 Clark Butler Blvd., its newest location.

The public is welcomed to participate in the grand opening event. The new store is located in Gainesville’s Butler Plaza North expansion. Following the ceremony, refreshments will be served.

“Board-cutting” has been a grand opening tradition at Lowe’s for over 60 years. Lowe’s operates several existing branches in Gainesville. The company encourages potential guests to phone ahead at 352-448-2000 to confirm attendance.

As an extension of Butler Plaza, the newly constructed Butler North brings an additional 758,000 square feet of destination and convenience shopping to Gainesville area residents. Butler Plaza occupies a densely populated, ultra-high traffic area with easy access via major thoroughfares in North Central Florida.

The development of Butler North is expected to generate approximately 3,500 jobs, both in the construction sector and long-term permanent retail opportunities. SW 62nd Street is scheduled to be transformed into a four-lane highway to enhance roadway connections to the new shopping center. Additionally, bus ridership will be facilitated with transit stops.
