A groundbreaking was held recently for VOXX International Corp.'s latest manufacturing facility in Orlando, Florida.
Attracted to Orlando for its professional talent pool, accessible location and business-friendly atmosphere, VOXX International, headquartered in Hauppage, New York, was shaped by customer demand for state-of-the-art technology. With Florida ranked third nationwide for high-tech ventures, the company’s new facility at 2351 J. Lawson Blvd. in Orlando solidifies its commitment to the area.
Originating as an automotive sound-system specialist, VOXX has evolved to become a provider of high-end infotainment, remote start technology and vehicle telematics, due in part to its consolidation of independent entities including Hirschmann Car Communications into VOXXHirschmann in 2014.
The resulting combination of resources amped up the company’s game, catapulting it to its current day position as an industry leader. Today, VOXX services many major auto manufacturers, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Ford, GM, Toyota, Nissan, and many more.
"This is a major milestone for our company and I would like to personally thank everyone involved, from Gov. [Rick] Scott to [Orange County] Mayor [Teresa] Jacobs and their respective staffs, and all those who made this facility opening possible,” Pat Lavelle, VOXX International’s president and CEO, said. “With over 250 product development specialists and engineers on staff, we continue to bring to market new technologies that bridge the gap in consumer and automotive technologies, while bringing the concept of the connected car to life and with this new facility we significantly enhance our production capabilities."
From its new operations base, VOXX will continue to increase consumer connectivity. The plant will provide more than 300 jobs and has been approved by several regional economic organizations, including the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, CareerSource Florida, Enterprise Florida, Orange County and the Orlando Economic Development Commission.
