Miami’s Southern Wine & Spirits expects ‘smooth transition’ with Sterling Distributing acquisition

Miami, Florida-based Southern Wine & Spirits of America Inc., largest distributor of its kind in the nation, recently announced that it will acquire Sterling Distributing Co., Nebraska's premier distilled spirits and fine wine wholesaler.

"The Sterling Distributing Co. is a great family-owned business with a talented workforce and a long-standing reputation in the state,” Southern President and CEO Wayne Chaplin said. “Southern is honored by the opportunity to work with and learn from the Sterling leadership and employees deeply engrained in the market and to bring our industry best practices and expertise to the Nebraska market. We anticipate a smooth transition with no disruption for employees, suppliers and customers alike."

The deal is expected to close at the end of February.

Southern Wine & Spirits of America Inc. runs operations in 35 markets and employs more than 14,000 team members.
