Southern Wine & Spirits of America Inc. and Glazer's Inc. recently announced their collaboration from Miami, Florida and Dallas, Texas, respectively, creating a new entity entitled Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits LLC, pending the firms’ imminent combination.
"We are pleased to announce today that Southern Glazer's will begin its work with the most experienced and talented group of commercial leaders in the industry,” Brad Vassar, incoming EVP and COO for the newly formed Southern Glazer, said.
New officers were announced alongside the announcement, assigned by geographical zone. Each one brings over 20 years of expertise, much of it with parent company Southern Wine & Spirits.
"We are excited about what Southern Glazer's will achieve with this regional structure," Wayne Chaplin, Southern’s president and CEO, said. "By positioning the combined company to better meet the unique needs of each geographical area, we will provide even better, more tailored service to our trading partners."
John Wittig, currently a Southern executive, will serve as Eastern region president; Mike McLaughlin will step up from his current position as EVP for sales and marketing to handle the company’s Central territory; and in the Western region, Patrick Daul will move up from his role of SVP for commercial strategy.
Kevin Fennessey, now EVP for commercial strategy, will serve as new overall EVP for commercial operations, including sales and trade development; additionally, he will continue on as leader for the integration management office.
"This is another example of how the Southern Glazer's combination will enable us to lead the way in our industry, combining quality of service with excellence in execution at all levels,” Glazer's President and CEO Shelly Stein said. “We will have the right people and the right strategy in place from day one to help our suppliers and customers reach and exceed their business goals."
