AxoGen Inc., marketer of surgical solutions for nerve injuries, recently announced from its headquarters in Alachua, Florida that Peter Mariani became its CFO as of March 1.
Mariani most recently served as CFO for LensAR Inc. of Orlando, maker of laser technology for refractive cataract surgery. Interim CFO Greg Freitag will continue as general counsel, SVP of business development and a member of the board of directors.
“Pete’s financial expertise and his broad commercial, international and operational background is a great addition to the AxoGen management team,” Karen Zaderej, president and CEO, said. “I am looking forward to working with him as we continue to execute on our growth strategies.”
AxoGen provides surgeons with ways to repair and protect peripheral nerves. The company has created and licensed a combination of technologies into a specialized product line, allowing surgeons to reconstruct injured nerves with fewer potential complications, as well as protecting compressed nerves.
“I am pleased to join the AxoGen team at this important time,” Mariani said. “AxoGen’s performance over the past few years has been impressive. I am looking forward to working with Karen and the rest of the team as we continue to advance the growth strategies of these important nerve repair solutions.”
AxoGen Inc., poised for strong growth as a niche provider, maintains a global distribution center in Burleson, Texas and operational facilities in Virginia Beach, Virginia as well as its base in Alachua — a growing biotech and regenerative medicine hub located adjacent to Gainesville and the University of Florida.
