Tampa-based WellCare Health Plans Inc. recently opened the doors to its newest public “Welcome Room,” the latest in its series of comfortable, community-friendly spaces, in the City of Miami Gardens, located in north-central Miami-Dade County.
The new site is located at 4680 NW 183rd St. Miami Gardens Mayor Oliver Gilbert attended its grand opening May 14 to preside over the traditional ribbon cutting. Guests enjoyed health and fitness presentations, dominoes, kids’ activities and an appearance by “Sunny,” the WellCare mascot.
Visitors can drop in for answers, guidance and services provided by the company. Staffers can lend assistance in the areas of Medicaid and Medicare specifics as well as help to locate medical resources for area residents. Additionally, WellCare Welcome Rooms sponsor a variety of events free of charge every month, from wellness programs to preventive education, safety and treatment strategies.

Miami Gardens is the company’s 15th Welcome Room, with other locations in Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Kissimmee, Melbourne, New Port Richey, Ocala, Orlando, Pensacola, Pinellas Park, Spring Hill, Tallahassee, Tampa, West Palm Beach and Winter Haven.
