Mulberry. Florida-based W. S. Babcock Corp., better known in Florida as Badcock Home Furniture &more, recently revealed that current COO Robert Burnette will take the helm of the 320-outlet store chain as of Jan. 1, 2017.
Burnette will take over the company presidency from Mike Price, who is planning to retire after nearly 20 years with the company at the end of 2016.
“The company is enjoying unprecedented sales this year, making this an ideal time to begin a transition of leadership,” Price said. “I cannot think of anyone better suited to lead the company forward than Rob. We will be working closely together for the balance of 2016 to ensure a smooth handoff.”
Burnette — also a company veteran with 31 years of service to his credit — commended Price’s skilled tenure.
“Mike has led us to a point where we are poised to take the company to the next level, and I’m looking forward to working with our owners and management team to make that happen,” Burnette said.
Positioned to join the board of directors concurrently with his new leadership position, Burnette has served as Badcock’s SVP of corporate administration since 2002. He earned his degree in business administration from Florida Southern College, acquiring an additional degree in risk management from the Insurance Institute of America in 1990.
Burnett maintains active community ties, serving on various boards for family and youth organizations.
