Florida beverage challenge raises a glass to Marker 48 Brewing

“Red, Right, Return” is the prize-winning beer taking a bronze medal in the state’s 2016 Best Florida Beer Championships and symbolizing a prestigious victory for brewer and first-time entrant Marker 48 Brewing, based in Brooksville.

The seven-barrel craft brewery, open since November 2015 in Hernando County, has earned several additional accolades in a short time and was recently tapped to take part in the prominent craft beer and food pairing event known as SAVOR June 3-4 in Washington, D.C.

With over 75 small and independent craft beer brewers, “SAVOR:  An American Craft Beer & Food Experience” brings brewers together from nationwide sources, coordinated by the Boulder, Colorado-based Brewers Association, whose executive chef Adam Dulye will create a special food pairing menu for the occasion. Tickets for the event are available to the public but are expected to sell quickly.

“We are absolutely honored to be chosen for this prestigious and outstanding event our first year out the gate,” Tina Ryman, who owns the business with her husband Maurice, said. She added that they are looking forward to representing “not only Hernando County, but Florida as well with some great craft beers!”

“Red, Right, Return” is one of Marker 48’s core beer products. The company was named as a member of Beer Advocate Magazine’s 2015 list of exceptional new breweries — one of only 33 out of a total field of 500 contenders.
