Polk County tourism taps Snow as new marketing rep

Current communications expert Al Snow, on board with Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing (PCTSM) for over four years, recently stepped up as the agency’s new tourism sales representative for meetings, conventions and other events.

Current communications expert Al Snow, on board with Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing (PCTSM) for over four years, recently stepped up as the agency’s new tourism sales representative for meetings, conventions and other events.

Snow will fill the shoes of longtime post holder Carol DeHaven, who served Polk County for 37 years. He is slated to coordinate business development, event planning and marketing for outdoor recreation such as fishing, golf, hiking and ecotourism.

“Throughout his time with us, Al has been instrumental in the recruitment, planning and execution of several high-profile events such as the Florida SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference, the International Practical Shooting Confederation World Championships, the Southeastern Outdoor Press Association’s Annual Conference and most recently the 2016 Miss Florida Pageant,” Mark Jackson, Polk County’s tourism and sports marketing director, said.

Before joining PCTSM, Snow worked in the outdoor sports sector for a decade and a half. He previously served in a similar capacity for ESPN Outdoors, handling sponsorship and event marketing for television series programming. Additionally, he worked as marketing and public relations director for several publications and a PGA tour. The Syracuse University alumnus, who earned his degree in economics, lives in Lakeland with his family.
