Former Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty recently joined the advisory board of MBF Healthcare Partners (MBF), a private equity company based in Coral Gables, to pinpoint potential managed care opportunities nationwide.
“We are pleased to announce that Kevin will be assisting us as an Advisory Board member and a consultant in identifying managed care opportunities,” MBF chairman Miguel “Mike” Fernandez said. “I have known Kevin for several years and we are truly honored to have someone with his credentials and reputation join us as we seek opportunities for our latest fund.”
Fernandez added that MBF’s track record of successful Medicaid and Medicare managed care, in tandem with McCarty’s longtime insurance industry relationships, would successfully combine to enhance growth opportunities in managed care nationwide.
McCarty, who also served as former president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), expressed enthusiasm for his new role.
“I am both excited and looking forward to the opportunity to work with Mike and his team on developing and executing on a managed care strategy that will make a significant impact on improving the quality and access to care for individuals in our country,” McCarty said. “I have known Mike as a regulator for some time and I have always respected him for delivering on his word and most importantly delivering results.”
MBF focuses primarily on the health care sector. Its team members bring extensive management experience for both public and privately held organizations.
