The Tallahassee-based Florida Chamber of Commerce recently endorsed Doug Broxson in Florida’s Senate District 1 election race, stating its belief that the candidate will best represent both families and small business in the Sunshine State.
The Chamber came out in favor of Broxson based on its assessment of Florida’s anticipated economic growth over the next several years and in alignment with its pro-jobs stance. It is anticipated that Florida will require over 7,200 new jobs by 2020.
To further support Broxson, the Chamber’s Political Action Committee (PAC) released a television commercial revealing details of current Panhandle Representative Mike Hill.
The advertisement states that Hill, who represents District 2 in the Florida House of Representatives but is campaigning to become a State Senator for District 1 in 2016, broke his word to several parties — including Gov. Rick Scott, the Chamber and Pensacola region residents — by acting contrary to his stated intentions and attacking his opponent for a job growth plan he once backed himself.
“When it comes to securing Florida’s future, our state needs leaders who will stand up for jobs that help support families and communities,” Marian Johnson, SVP of political operations for the Florida Chamber, said. “Voters deserve a leader they can trust in, not one who says one thing and does another.”
The TV ad is currently airing on Panhandle area stations and serves to support the Chamber’s efforts at increasing voter awareness.
“This is about trust, leadership and job growth and we believe Doug Broxson has the small business experience and leadership to help grow [our] economy,” Johnson stated.
