The red and yellow trolleys that crisscross the streets of Fort Lauderdale, helping both tourists and locals get where they need to go, are celebrating 25 years with “A Transportation Celebration” on Sept. 21.
The Sun Trolley Company will be celebrated by the Fort Lauderdale Transportation Management Association (TMA), which administers the trolleys, at the Fort Lauderdale Antique Car Museum.
"We wanted to do something special for the 25th anniversary of the Sun Trolley and for us this meant celebrating together with the community and continuing a discussion about what transportation is going to look like in Fort Lauderdale for the next 25 years," Executive Director of the Downtown Fort Lauderdale TMA Robyn Chiarelli said.
The event will focus on past accomplishments through the Great Gatsby theme while looking toward the future of transportation and economic growth for Broward County.
"Serving more than 450,000 residents and tourists each year, the Sun Trolley and Riverwalk Water Trolley are integral components of the city's multi-modal transportation network,” Chiarelli said. “As the landscape of our transportation system continues to expand and evolve, it's important that we come together as a community to continue the dialogue and share ideas.’
Tickets are on sale online (http://bit.ly/celebrate25yrs) for an early bird special of $25 until Sept. 15 and $35 if purchased afterward.
