Las Vegas-based Allegiant Airlines recently launched two new air routes to Florida from numerous U.S. destinations, together with extra-low special incentive pricing and the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) as a primary destination.
Flights originating in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Austin, Texas will commence Nov. 17 and Feb. 17, 2017, respectively. Allegiant offered one-way fares starting at $44, including taxes and fees, for a limited time period to ramp up the initial passenger flow. The company has grown rapidly, from one aircraft in 1999 to more than 80 currently, with 300 cross-country routes.
“We are excited to add Austin, Texas and Portsmouth, New Hampshire to our lineup, bringing Allegiant’s total to 53 routes from PIE,” PIE director Tom Jewsbury said. “We look forward to welcoming visitors from these new markets and offering service to these great cities from our community.”
Allegiant’s primary appeal has always been its economically priced fares. Its base prices remain less than half of that incurred by the average domestic roundtrip.
“Allegiant is pleased to announce even more new service to St. Pete/Clearwater, giving travelers from Austin and Portsmouth an ultra-low-cost, nonstop option to this world-renowned vacation destination,”Jude Bricker, COO for Allegiant, said. “We are certain that these communities will take advantage of our convenient service and we look forward to bringing even more visitors and economic growth to the area.”
