Pompano Beach-based Point Blank Enterprises (PBE), a manufacturer of advanced body armor and accessories, recently named Brian Kopan as its new SVP for engineering and technology effective immediately.

Kopan is a longstanding PBE team member, with a track record of handling an array of management positions over the last 15 years. While he most recently served as VP of engineering and product development, Kopan also previously directed design engineering and product development teams and oversaw test range operations.

Additionally, he managed the company’s $4 million Department of Defense (DoD) research program portfolio, directed new programs and managed R&D operations.

Earlier in his career, PBE’s new SVP worked at TenCate Advanced Armor Inc. based in Hebron, Ohio — as well as Ceradyne Inc., Trek Bicycle Corp. and Raytheon Co., where he accrued experience in armor development and manufacturing.

Kopan holds a bachelor’s degree in composite materials engineering from Winona State University in Minnesota and a MBA from California State University at Fullerton.

PBE produces highly “stab-resistant” apparel and accessories. Its protective clothing items can withstand both bullet impact and fragmentation. The company is one of the world’s largest suppliers of ballistic and soft body armor systems, with clients including the U.S. Armed Forces, DoD, government and law enforcement agencies, and corrections facilities and security firms.
