Introducing an industrial game-changer, Lake Mary-based 3D imaging technology company FARO has brought its branded Vector Imaging Laser Radar to market in a step forward for the automated inspection industry.
Titled the FARO Vector, the imaging laser product performs high-speed non-contact 3D measurement via high-resolution imaging at high volumes, complete with manufacturing guidance for either manual or automated production.
The FARO Vector functions as an adjunct to the firm’s existing product line and is currently available to users of the FARO Early Adopter (EA) program. It handles surface inspection, parts measurement, tool assembly, and verification all in a next-generation product package.
The new technology eliminates the need for physical templates and hard tooling while increasing production efficiency and improving quality control. Considered a pioneering step in metrology, the advancement is touted as the world’s first
"This product introduces a new class of LIDAR with High Speed Imaging (HSI) technology," FARO's President and CEO Simon Raab said. “The solution … promises to provide industrial manufacturers with significant inspection cycle time reduction and exceptional throughput.”
LIDAR, short for Light Detection and Ranging, is a remote detection or surveying system that works on the principle of radar, but uses eye-safe pulsing laser light to measure ranges, or variable distances.
