Presenting the area’s very first Corporate Landscaping Award, nonprofit group Trees Destin recently joined the Destin Chamber of Commerce to laud the already award-winning Destin Commons shopping mall for its outstanding exterior landscaping work.
Trees Destin’s executive director and founder Allen French presented the mall’s Bob Perry and his staff with the award at a Sept. 13 Destin Chamber luncheon.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Destin Chamber and award this honor once a quarter,” French said. “Congratulations once again to the Destin Commons on receiving the first award of this kind in the community. We hope this award will inspire other businesses in the community to compete for this honor and therefore also make our beautiful community even more so.”
Together, the Destin Chamber and Trees Destin will solicit nominations on a quarterly basis of those Chamber-affiliated businesses that have achieved exceptional store or business landscaping fronts. Winners will receive “an amazing sign for their store front, as well as a framed certificate to hang inside their establishment,” the Chamber stated.
Built in 2003 with retail, dining, recreation, gaming and theater, Destin Commons was voted "Best Place to Shop" by readers of Emerald Coast Magazine. In addition to indoor amenities, it sports an outdoor playground with a fountain and miniature working train.
Trees Destin improves Destin's tree canopy and enhances Destin's beauty through planting, conservation and education, frequently partnering with local organizations.
