Releasing its preferred list of candidates for 2016, the Florida Chamber of Commerce announced its 79 top election choices recently from Tallahassee, with a substantial majority of Chamber-backed candidates having won in the primary round.
Out of more than 200 contenders, 76 of 88 total Florida Chamber-approved contenders emerged victorious from Florida’s primary election earlier this year to continue in the general election. The Florida Chamber engages “early and aggressively” when publicizing its endorsements, the organization said.
“We believe these candidates will put Florida’s long-term future ahead of short-term fixes and will help ensure our state remains competitive,” Marian Johnson, SVP of political operations for the Florida Chamber of Commerce, said. “We are proud to support these candidates that we believe will help create jobs and economic opportunity in our state.”
To that end, the Chamber has published its 2016 Election Guide as well as investing in digital and television advertising and promotional mailing pieces.
