St. Petersburg’s CASA representing Pinellas County in national fundraising competition

St. Petersburg’s CASA (Community Action Stops Abuse) recently earned the right to represent southern Pinellas County in the national Allstate Foundation’s Purple Purse Challenge, running in conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

CASA is eligible to win cash prizes, including a $100,000 grand prize, in the national fundraising competition that is running online through Oct. 25.

CASA has participated twice previously, successfully raising thousands of dollars in donations. The Purple Purse Challenge helps domestic violence support groups expand their donor list and publicize their mission.

As well as $115,000 in weekly bonuses, five cash prizes ranging from $15,000 to $100,000 await the challenge’s top fundraisers.

Allstate’s Purple Purse Challenge is now in its 12th year of steering survivors toward safety and security. The event has provided over $50 million to enable women to overcome abusive relationships and obtain training, education and access to business opportunities to better themselves and their families’ prospects.

Individuals can contribute to the cause and help CASA of St. Petersburg win the Purple Purse Challenge by making donations by 2 p.m. Oct. 25.
