Bolstering its infrastructure, staying storm-ready and investing in smart technology has earned Juno Beach-based Florida Power & Light (FPL) its second annual ReliabilityOne Award.

Presented by the independent PA Consulting Group Inc., the ReliabilityOne Award represents acknowledgement of the highest levels of dependability in the industry.

FPL CEO and President Eric Silagy said his company’s “unwavering commitment” and $2 billion investment has boosted service reliability by approximately 25 percent over the last half-decade. He aslo cited the utility’s ability to respond during extreme weather events such as Hurricanes Wilma, Hermine and Matthew.

Criteria for the awards include regional performance and improvement over time; leadership in outage data reporting and procedures; an ethos based on reliability; communication response to events, and overall contributions to regional system security.

"For more than 15 years, the ReliabilityOne Awards have helped bring recognition to those utilities that have delivered the highest level of service reliability to their customers, leveraging technology, communications, and information to make the grid smarter than it has ever been," PA Consulting Group ReliabilityOne Program Director Derek HasBrouck said. "As recipient of the (2016) ReliabilityOne National Reliability Excellence Award once again this year, FPL has combined leading edge customer-centric grid analytics with outstanding efforts to 'engineer out' electric service interruptions."
