Destin chamber recognizes business leaders at golden anniversary celebration

The Destin Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 50th anniversary Dec. 15 with a champagne toast and awarding notable members of the city’s business community.


The Destin Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 50th anniversary Dec. 15 with a champagne toast and awarding notable members of the city’s business community.

During the celebration, sponsored by the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center and Twin Cities Hospital at The Henderson luxury resort, the chamber recognized Amy Perry of Pleat & Perry P.A. with the James D. Neilsen Sr. Chairman’s Award for Volunteer Service for supporting chamber programming. Perry also received a plaque for seven years of service to the chamber’s board of directors, including one year as chair.

Kim Winter of Alliance Association Management Co. Inc. was honored with the Businessperson of the Year Award. Jonathan Ochs of Trustmark National Bank, the chamber’s chairman, lauded Winter for conducting himself with “dignity and respect” and treating “everyone around him the same.”

Ochs bestowed the Ann Gibson Community Service Award on Jason Belcher of FNBT Bank, saying that “his love for his community and his fellow man shows through everything he does.”

Bill Head received the Paul Woolman Ambassador of the Year Award, marking the fourth time he took the honor.
