Clearwater-based MariJ Pharmaceuticals is following its corporate sibling as a participant in the emerging U.S. hemp market by entering into an agreement to produce organic hemp oil.

MariJ, a mobile carbon dioxide processor, recently reached a processing agreement with a Colorado hemp farm to produce what is believed to be the first USDA-certified organic hemp oil  made in the U.S., the company said in a news release.

Acacia Diversified Holdings Inc., parent of MariJj, also owns and operates Canna-Cures Research and Development Inc., which focuses on disease prevention through the production of hemp-based vitamins and supplements.

Acacia said it is counting on the increased legalization of cannabis across the country to jump start the industry and open more markets for their products, the release said.
