St. Petersburg artist to hold workshop on rubber-stamp printmaking

Local artist Coralette Damme, known as the Crafty Hag, will be conducting a hands-on printmaking workshop on the art of rubber stamp carving at Studio@620 in St. Petersburg.


Local artist Coralette Damme, known as the Crafty Hag, will be conducting a hands-on printmaking workshop on the art of rubber stamp carving at Studio@620 in St. Petersburg.

During the workshop, Damme will share her stamping secrets, which she says are a gateway to other printmaking processes and techniques, according to a release posted on the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce website. The workshop will be held at at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at Studio@620, 620 1st Ave South.

This type of printmaking involves carving custom shapes into rubber, but wood blocks may also be used, the release said.

Tools and supplies will be available to carve stamp designs to make greeting cards, postcards or other type of crafts. Participants should bring an image to create a stamp. Images, which can be drawings, photographs or photocopies, should be business-card size, the release said.
