St. Petersburg students vying to serve as ambassadors to Japan

Applications from students in the St. Petersburg area looking to participate in the Cultural Exchange Program with Takamatsu, Japan, are being reviewed.

Applications from students in the St. Petersburg area looking to participate in the Cultural Exchange Program with Takamatsu, Japan, are being reviewed.

High school juniors seeking to apply as a Student Ambassador through the city's Sister City cultural exchange program had to submit an original essay, a class photo, a high school transcript listing honors and activities, and letters of reference, a release on the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce website said.

Student Ambassadors in the past have experienced what life is like in Takamatsu by living with a host family, going to high school and sightseeing. Former ambassadors have built on their experiences by studying international relations, international business or Japanese studies, the release said.
