John Mitten of Brooksville, a small business owner, recently appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to serve on the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners, Scott's office said in a release.
The 47-year-old Mitten graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He is serving during Commissioner Jeff Holcomb’s military leave of absence.
“Florida is proud to be the home of so many brave military members, and I am grateful to Commissioner Jeff Holcomb for serving our country overseas,” Scott said in the release. “We will keep Jeff and his family in our prayers throughout this deployment and I am confident John Mitten will serve Hernando families well until his safe return.”
