St. Petersburg City Council chair raises $23,000 in re-election bid

St. Petersburg City Council Chair Darden Rice recently said her campaign to seek re-election has raised more than $23,000.

Rice credited the outpouring of constituent support because of her support of several causes including community issues, working to improve transportation and making local government more transparent and efficient, a release posted on the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce said. In addition to promoting inclusive policies for all of St. Pete residents, Rice has been an active promoter of a cleaner and better environment.

“I’m thankful for the outpouring of support for my re-election campaign,” Rice said in the release. She also mentioned the positive progress made over the past three years. “Our city and our neighborhoods are stronger because we’ve worked together,” she said.

During the first 16 days of her re-election campaign, over 100 of her supporters contributed $23,020.34 to the effort to keep Rice in office, the release said.
