Physicians' Primary Care of Southwest Florida is once again participating in the Million Mile Movement, a Healthy Lee initiative that is challenging residents in Lee County to move 1 million miles over a period of three months, ending March 31.
The Million Mile Movement is part of Healthy Lee's mission to empower and inspire individuals to make healthy lifestyle choices, a release on the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce website said.
Physicians and staff members at Physicians' Primary Care aim to collectively reach 11,000 miles through exercises such as walking, running, swimming and aerobics, the release said.
"We are encouraging all of our employees to be active, which is one of the keys to a healthy lifestyle," Physicians Primary Care Managing Physician Mary Yankaskas said in the release. "Physical fitness is essential to achieving and maintaining good health so the Million Mile Movement is an initiative that we can heartily support."
The number of miles are being tracked daily and participants receive prizes when certain milestones are achieved.
"We want to make it fun as well as healthy for our employees," Staci Mihm, who is coordinating the participation of employees, said. "Every step taken is a move toward healthier living."
Physicians' Primary Care has offices in Cape Coral, Lehigh Acres and Fort Myers.
