A regional foundation will donate contributions to the Fund for the Environment in Southwest Florida back to local community programs as part of April 22’s Earth Day celebration.
Sponsored by the Southwest Florida (SWFL) Community Foundation, the crowd-sourced event includes incentives such as a free “environment” button for the first 22 donors. Area residents can contribute $10 or more by going online to www.floridacommunity.com/environment-fund.
This year marks the 47th annual worldwide observance of Earth Day. Since 1970, when 20 million U.S. residents launched what has become a global environmental movement, scores of nations have commemorated their collective commitment to preserving the environment and the planet’s resources and have educated future generations on conservation and environmental awareness.
The Fund for the Environment in Southwest Florida supports nonprofits focused on the region’s long-term sustainability. This year it has already contributed to Audubon of the Western Everglades for Protection of Vital Wetlands and Habitat in Southwest Florida.
