HBK CPAs & Consultants (HBK) has hired nine interns in Florida.
Those interns are Mark Arnone and Carlos Ospina in Fort Myers; Rebecca Vanek, Zachary Milos-Scovronek, Patricia Conley and Christina Gedra in Naples; Christopher Jensen, Ian Hambric and Joanne Smith in Stuart.
The nine are part of 45 interns chosen to work at the CPA firm's offices in Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Ohio.
HBK has been hiring seasonal interns for more than two decades. While college juniors and seniors are given the most consideration, selected students must have taken at least one basic accounting or tax course, as well as maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, according to a press release.
HBK has partnered with numerous colleges and universities to find the best candidates across its serviced regions. For the Southwest Florida region, the firm recently teamed up with the Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) Foundation on a scholarship program.
"We understand the importance of identifying and training tomorrow’s top accountants at these early stages," Barry Holes, CPA, principal-in-charge of HBK’s Southwest Florida region, said. "Hiring the right interns is crucial to our staffing patterns since a high percentage of students who serve internships with our firm are asked back in subsequent seasons and many are eventually hired as accountants."
