Frederick Moon recently joined the Southwest Florida Community Foundation's board of trustees.
Moon began his career as an assistant treasurer at Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. in New York City, during which time he served on nonprofit boards, according to the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce. Between 1975 and 1990, he was vice president and treasurer of Pomona College in California, the founding institution of The Claremont Colleges.
He is active in causes relating to environmental sustainability, civil rights and the sustainability of local communities. Moon served as director of The Surdna Foundation in New York City for over 20 years, where he helped the company evolve from a family foundation to a professionally managed organization, according to the chamber. Moon also developed forestry practices and sought to make the foundation a model for other businesses.
Moon is a native of New York City and a graduate of Amherst College and Harvard Business School, according to the chamber.
