Family-friendly festival featured seafood from local restaurants, live music

Venice MainStreet recently hosted the first Venice Seafood & Music Festival in Centennial Park.


Venice MainStreet recently hosted the first Venice Seafood & Music Festival in Centennial Park.

The family-friendly event featured delicious seafood dishes from local restaurants, including Blu Island Bistro, Burgundy Square Cafe, Captain Eddie's, Cedar Reef Fish Camp, Crow's Nest, Daiquiri Deck, Made in Italy and Saltwater Cafe, according to an announcement.

There were live performances from local and regional musicians across a variety of genres such as Caribbean, jazz, R&B, reggae and rock. Scheduled bands were Jah Movement, Kettle of Fish, Mac Arnold & Plate Full O'Blues, Ocean's Eleven Big Band, Sarasota Jazz Project, Sarasota Steel Pan Band, Spark Notes and Twinkle & Rock Soul Radio.

There also was a marketplace selling crafts and fine products, as well as volunteers from the South County Food Pantry who collected nonperishable food items.
