The community and businesses in Coral Gables are poised for economic growth in 2018, Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Mark Trowbridge recently told Florida Business Daily

Question: What do you expect to see this year?

Answer: I see most growth with a greater emphasis on hiring; I would call it cautious optimism.

Q: Who benefits/loses?

A: I think both employers and employees benefit this year, especially as we see how tax reform unfolds.

Q: How should businesses/consumers approach the year from an economic viewpoint?

A: Modest growth and expansion; I also think we are more confident in the ability of the consumer to buy.

Q: Which sectors do you see ripe for growth?

A: Health care continues to boom and, in Miami, construction jobs are at a premium.

Q: Which sectors do you think will continue to sink?

A:  Post [Hurricane] Irma, our tourism industry took a hit, but I think that has already seen a recovery at the end of 2017 and the first month of 2018.
