The Avondale Police Department, along with the Drug Enforcement Administration, is offering an opportunity for residents to throw out all expired or unwanted prescription drugs.

As part of a national initiative to spread awareness among people about the dangers of expired prescription drugs, the Avondale Police are offering a way to properly and safely dispose of them without any worries. The event will take place on April 28 at the CVS Pharmacy at 280 N. Avondale Blvd.

All sorts of pills, capsules and tablets will be accepted. However, glass containers containing liquid medications, inhalers, syringes or other similar items used to inject medication cannot be accepted under DEA guidelines.

Illicit substances like such as marijuana or methamphetamines cannot be disposed of during this event.
