About 30 percent of the 940 degrees and certificates handed out by the St Thomas University in 2016-17 were to students in Education programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Gardens conferred 261 master's degrees and 10 doctor's degrees in Education programs.

But the single most popular program was for a doctor's degree in Law. Data shows the school gave out 174 doctor's degrees in Law, followed by 104 master's degrees in Educational Leadership and Administration, General and 89 master's degrees in Teacher Education, Multiple Levels.

The university enrolled 4,662 students for 2016-17, including 2,752 in undergraduate programs and 1,910 in graduate programs.
