About 72.6 percent of the 237 degrees and certificates handed out by the Ringling College of Art and Design in 2016-17 were to students in Visual and Performing Arts programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Sarasota conferred 172 bachelor's degrees in Visual and Performing Arts programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in Illustration. Data shows the school gave out 83 bachelor's degrees in Illustration, followed by 58 bachelor's degrees in Animation, Interactive Technology, Video Graphics and Special Effects and 26 bachelor's degrees in Game and Interactive Media Design.

The college enrolled 1,340 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
