ST. PETERSBURG ARTS ALLIANCE: St. Pete Water Resources crews headed to Panhandle

St. Petersburg Arts Alliance recently issued the following announcement.

Two crews from the St. Pete Water Resources Department are headed to the Florida Panhandle to assist with the repair of severely damaged infrastructure.

The request for help came through a mutual aid agreement facilitated through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and there was no hesitation from St. Petersburg Water Resources leaders.

“We’ll always help our neighbors,” said Water Resources Director John Palenchar. “I can’t think of any utility who isn’t responding to this need.”

A total of 15 crew members in nine vehicles are deploying to Bay County and it’s expected that they will be there for up to two weeks. One of the major obstacles they will face is all the debris, which will have to be moved before the workers can even get to the water line breaks. But with additional excavation and other heavy construction equipment, they will be well-prepared for whatever they face.

The crews will be in Bay County by this evening and will begin their work first thing Tuesday.
