Graduates earn 184 degrees from New College of Florida


About 50 percent of the 184 degrees and certificates handed out by New College of Florida in 2017-18 were to students in liberal arts and sciences, general studies and humanities programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Sarasota conferred 92 bachelor's degrees in liberal arts and sciences, general studies and humanities programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in general studies, liberal arts and sciences, and other humanities. Data shows the school gave out 92 bachelor's degrees in general studies, liberal arts and sciences, and other humanities, followed by 59 bachelor's degrees in biological and physical sciences and 11 bachelor's degrees in environmental studies.

The college enrolled 859 students for 2017-18, including 835 in undergraduate programs and 24 in graduate programs.
