New Smyrna Beach ranked 585th in Florida for the percentage of households receiving food stamps in 2017, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau in August.

1,000 of 12,024 New Smyrna Beach households (8.3 percent) received food stamps. New Smyrna Beach's population reached 25,103 people in 2017.

The city with the largest percentage of households receiving food stamps in the state was Homestead Base, which had 99 of 109 households receiving food stamps, 82.5 percent more than New Smyrna Beach. In 2017 the population of Homestead Base was 843.

The city with the lowest percentage of households receiving food stamps in the state was Allentown, which had 1 of 421 households receiving food stamps, 8.1 percent less than New Smyrna Beach. In 2017 the population of Allentown was 1,064.
